This home was custom built to reflect the exact blueprint of a family home originally built on the property in the mid 1800s. Materials used in the home's construction were salvaged from the original home. Hand-hewn beams were salvaged and installed in the kitchen. The original heart-pine wood floors were restored. Salvaged wood was placed surrounding the bathroom mirrors.
Outside, the original home's brick was restored and re-purposed into an outdoor fire place. The beams on the outdoor patio area are wrapped in wood from the original home. Custom operable shutters were installed on the home's exterior.
Because of its preservation and re-use achievements, this project was awarded the 2017 Best Single Family New Construction (1,600-2,000 sq. ft.) from the Home Builders Association of Mississippi .
